So i was poking my nose around the kitchen this afternoon looking for something to snack on. I really think it’s the cold weather that’s making me constantly hunger or that the kitchen is too close to the room, makes me want to constantly reach into the fridge.
So i have bagels and eggs lying around and i thought why not make a french toast styled bagel?
It turned out so delicious, i think i will make these again.
Here’s what i did:
1) Cut a full bagel into half horizontally
2) Get your mini non-stick egg pan out (it fits the size of a bagel perfectly).
3) Slather on some butter and wait for the sizzle.
4) Place the bagel (faced down) onto the heated butter
5) As the bagel is browning with the butter, crack an egg into the center void, filling it up.
(the egg will spread itself under the bagel so don’t worry!)
6) Wait till you can lift the egg along with the bagel then add a slice of breakfast ham and flip!
7) Let the ham brown on the pan for about a min then flip it back on the other side.
// you can add a pinch of chopped sage for a fragrant fried egg!
What you should get is a perfectly browned buttered bagel with crispy ham and a runny yolk in the center of the bagel. When you cut through into the bagel, the yolk will flow out beautifully.
Easy snack for the afternoon that takes barely 5 mins to cook.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
