We stayed over at the Silver Ridge Retreat for 4 days 3 nights.
Took a 2 hour drive up towards Cradle Mountain from Launceston and arrived at this quaint retreat. The land area of this place was huge and we were allocated a lodge with a good backyard view! Talk about wilderness living, the lodge doesn’t come equipped with wifi and living in the mountainous areas means no reception at all. The only way we could stay connected on social media was going down to the reception area to use the wifi provided there. The closest convenience store you could get to is over in the town called Sheffield, which is about a 10-12 minutes drive away.
When we got there, we were the only tourists to stay for the night, so we settled down our belongings and took a quick walk/trek around the area. The retreat’s also a farm, so the owner has his cattle and horse grazing around. The retreat’s nestled closeby to Mount Roland, right in the heart of Cradle Mountain, surrounded by wilderness.
This was the view we got next to the reception area. Pretty amazing.
I got too excited over the landscape views from the lodge that I forgot to take photos of how the interior looked like. But basically, one lodge comes equipped with a kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 1 living room and 1 bathroom. The kitchen’s self contained, so we had accessed to all the cutlery and crockery. The photo below is the lodge that we got! How sick is the view!!
The owner has a white horse that looks almost like a unicorn.
Meet the owner, John, and his horse.
I’d highly recommend this place if you’re visiting Cradle Mountain.
